In 1996, Neighborhood Fellowship
recognized a gap in services in the eastside neighborhoods
and began organizing to make a difference. Since our
inception, we have been grounded in the simple premise
of Neighbors
Helping Neighbors. Our leadership and staff
have long-established roots in our community. In fact,
many of us grew up here, and together we have committed
to continuing to live and work on the near eastside.
Neighborhood Fellowship is sharply
focused on reaching out to those in great need, yet building
trust is an enormous barrier in a setting in which people
are skeptical and unaccustomed to being treated as equal.
Neighborhood Fellowship meets people where they are,
gains their trust, and helps them turn their lives around.
Relationship building is at the heart of what we do and
key to our ministry. We work to get to know one another
intricately so that we have opportunities to build long-lasting,
life-altering relationships.
A Vision
for Tomorrow
At the heart of what Neighborhood Fellowship desires is a strong future for
our church and our community. NF is committed to being more than a situational
institution that steps in and makes a difference for the moment, and moves out
when times are troubled. NF has a long range goal of creating leaders from the
community through discipleship who will carry on our mission for generations.
Where as many urban churches have fallen away or disappeared to the suburbs,
NF is deliberately rooted in the center of the city.
As Neighborhood Fellowship looks
out from today, we envision the near eastside of Indianapolis
to be a community that has an increased awareness of
the Gospel. It is a community where existing churches
are responsive and work together across racial and
socio-economic lines, and where new churches are planted.
It is a community where strong leaders are developed
and maturing believers exhibit their faith through
service to one another. It is a community where families
are healed and lives are changed.
